After trekking across two continents, hosting tens of thousands of attendees and unveiling innovative new products and solutions, VMworld 2017 U.S. and Europe have wrapped up. But just because the annual conferences have concluded doesn’t mean the VMworld fire should be extinguished.
In fact, so much happened in Las Vegas and Barcelona that we’d be remiss not to provide a recap. The VMware Cloud Provider team hosted 15 customer breakout sessions, including an additional four sessions during Partner Exchange, and more than 50 partner meetings at VMworld US and EMEA. Consider this your “in case you missed it” guide to all of the major VMware Cloud Provider key happenings at VMworld 2017.
From vCloud Air Network to Cloud Provider Program
First up, we’ve changed our name! The program formerly known as vCloud Air Network is now the VMware Cloud Provider Program, a name that debuted at VMworld US. Why the change you ask? Simple – to better showcase what our ecosystem of partners does best, which is delivering world-class cloud services based on the VMware Cloud technologies. Our new name is just another step in VMware’s mission to make it easier to connect customers and partners.
vCloud Director 9.0
One significant announcement was the unveiling of vCloud Director 9.0, which offers incredible new benefits to VMware Cloud Providers worldwide including simplified cloud consumption for tenants and simple and secure cloud migration.
With the increasing popularity of vCloud Director, many VMware Cloud Providers participated in the beta program for vCloud Director 9.0 and praised it for the provider-grade scalability, self-service and accelerated service monetization across IaaS and Managed Hosting offerings.
VMware Cloud Provider Platform
The VMware Cloud Provider Platform enables VMware Cloud Providers to meet their critical business imperatives: drive operational efficiency, quickly monetize new services, and compete more effectively. The Cloud Provider Platform serves as a seamless onramp for partners to adopt the newest innovations from VMware for cloud providers, including VMware vSphere®, VMware NSX® and VMware vCloud Director®.
We look forward to our partners leveraging these new capabilities for further growth!
VMware Cloud Verified
At VMworld Europe we announced VMware Cloud Verified, a new branding initiative driving customer awareness of VMware’s cloud offerings available from VMware Cloud Provider partners. Our initial set of Cloud Verified partners includes CenturyLink, Fujitsu, IBM Cloud OVH and Rackspace, with more to come in the near future.
The VMware Cloud Verified logo helps customers and prospects identify and engage with VMware validated Service Providers. VMware Cloud Verified partners give customers the strongest, most flexible cloud infrastructure for their digital transformation efforts. Customers using services provided by VMware Cloud Verified Service Providers can expect increased integration and interoperability, flexibility and cost optimization.
Partner Collaborations
There’s no “I” in teamwork, or VMware for that matter. Suffice it to say, VMworld 2017 was such a massive success in no small part to our many Service Provider partners. Some of our key partner news releases include CenturyLink, Rackspace and Fujitsu announced exciting new cloud-based solutions with VMware Cloud Foundation. Meanwhile, Cloud Provider partners iland, Navisite and NewCloud Networks all announced DR solutions leveraging VMware vCloud Availability.
Finally, a shout out to all of our Service Provider partners who set up exhibitions and helped make the Solutions Exchange at VMworld a huge hit!
