This is a repost from the VMworld blog.
As VMworld continues full speed ahead, we’re seeing increasingly outstanding sessions and speakers—and it’s only Tuesday! Once again, things kicked off bright and early today with our general session, which featured a variety of special guests, including the CEO of Dell, Michael Dell! Michael and VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger discussed today’s IT landscape and how customer support must adapt to meet evolving customer needs. “Anything that doesn’t live up to your expectation isn’t a reflection of our brand reputation,” Pat stated, highlighting VMware’s commitment to service excellence.
In other news, our “Transforming Networking and Security for the Digital Era” session stirred up some serious buzz as security leaders declared VMware NSX as the wrecking ball that tore down the verticals between networking, storage and compute groups. Buzzkill: VMware NSX wasn’t the inspiration behind Miley Cyrus’ song “Wrecking Ball” (at least we don’t think).
During this session, attendees got the opportunity to hear from networking security leaders and customers about how VMware helps companies transition into the digital era with fully equipped security capabilities. Led by VMware NSX Vice President of Product Management Milin Desai, this session paid special attention to how legacy technology can compromise company safety, especially in the healthcare industry, which contains highly sensitive information.
For instance, certain systems may be effective on the medical side, but contain outdated security capabilities that aren’t strong enough to fight against today’s evolving threat landscape. VMware products like AppDefense are flipping the traditional security process on its head, offering the ability to gain direct visibility into applications, which encourages collaboration between security and application teams. Attendees also learned how VMware NSX enables strategic movement beyond traditional IT silos to improve security and support digital transformation.
We rounded out VMworld day three with the highly anticipated Hall Crawl, which took place in Solutions Exchange. Attendees had the opportunity to get up close and personal with VMware sponsors and exhibitors. This year, we welcomed a wide-range of amazing sponsors, including Citrix, Rubrik, Veeam, Nutanix, Skytap, HPE and more! Between the impressive amount of swag circulating and exciting conversations about the latest technological innovations, the Hall Crawl once again proved to be a huge hit at VMworld.
As we head into tomorrow, remember to download the VMworld Mobile App and earn all 10 badges in the “game” section to be entered into a random drawing to win a meet and greet with blink-182 and Bleachers at the Customer Appreciation Party tomorrow.
That’s it for today’s VMworld recap, but stay tuned for more learning opportunities tomorrow, followed by Thursday’s closing General Session – it’s bound to be the most exciting one yet! Goodnight, Vegas!
