Pre-Conference Customer Boot Camps
This August, the VMware flagship conference VMworld 2018 will again take place in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay. A highlight of the event this year will be the pre-conference Virtualizing Applications customer boot camps which will take place on Sunday August 26th.
This is the 3rd consecutive year that this elite boot camp program of has been offered as an extended learning opportunity for the attendees of VMworld. There will be 7 separate boot camps, each of which is focused on a specific technology or application, running on vSphere and VMware Technologies. Subjects as diverse as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and the always popular “VMware vSphere Advanced Performance Design, Configuration & Troubleshooting” session will be repeated this year in the same full-day format as in previous years.
New entries into the program include full-day boot camps focused on Microsoft Active Directory and SAP, which will include S4 HANA, as well as half day events covering High Performance Computing and Machine Learning, as well as Big Data and Spark.
Each of these boot camps will be delivered by a prominent lead instructor, as well as a list of expert guest instructors from both inside and outside VMware. These boot camps are filled with practical experience and advice from industry experts that thrive in these technology areas every day.
Boot camps will include coffee breaks and lunch.
Registration for these boot camps is done during your VMworld conference registration. Be sure to add your educational package at that time for easy payment.
There are a limited number of seats, to ensure many opportunities for attendee participation and they are sold on a first come first serve basis. Don’t miss your chance, register early!

Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS) is one of the most critical components of a Windows IT infrastructure. Most operations and functionalities in an Enterprise Microsoft Windows infrastructure depend on a robust, scalable, redundant and reliable Active Directory infrastructure. While most enterprises have adopted virtualization as the standard platform for their mission critical applications in production, many enterprise administrators and operators are still reluctant to virtualize Domain Controllers in their environments.
VMware’s Microsoft Applications Virtualization Lead (Deji Akomolafe) and one of the leading AD DS experts in the field – the world-renowned Sander Berkouwer (of Dirteam, 4sysops and Servercore fame) will deliver the Bootcamp. Together, they take you through the journey of virtualizing AD DS, avoiding common pitfalls, and recovering from common failures and problems associated with running Active Directory Domain Services in your enterprises. Demos include hands-on troubleshooting, correction, stabilization and optimization of a defective AD DS forest and multiple domains. Topics include, virtualization and the AD DS Database, replication, time synchronization and convergence, Fault domains, common challenge and general Best Practices.

The Big Data workshop at the VMworld conference will bring you up to speed rapidly on the design of a VMware setup for hosting your big data/machine learning systems, whether you intend to do so on the private or public cloud. You will leave the workshop with a level of knowledge and confidence to design your own deployment in an optimal way.
More and more big data applications are being virtualized. In fact, on the public cloud, most big data applications are already virtualized. The big data/machine learning field is an application space in which the adoption of virtualization is accelerating. This workshop will educate you on the key design principles and the best practices that VMware has uncovered in this area including deployment architectures, performance best practices and modern application design areas.
The bootcamps will include technically detailed discussions on the topics such as, the key big data platform architectures and how they fit with virtual machines and hypervisors and existing reference architectures that are validated by the main vendors. Other topics such as emerging trends with HDFS and how GPUs may be used with these applications on vSphere. Come join us and learn about modern Big Data Applications and VMware Technologies.
