As a unified stack of VMware technologies that includes VMware vSphere, vSAN, NSX, vCloud Director and Usage Meter, the VMware Cloud Provider Platform gives Cloud Providers the ability to increase efficiency, deliver differentiating, value-added services, drive revenue, and deploy highly scalable cloud environments with minimal risk.
VMware continues to invest in the Cloud Provider Platform, and that includes integrating solutions to provide even greater value for Cloud Providers – and their customers. At the core of the platform is support for easy self-service multi-tenant services. This not only helps to reduce Cloud Provider costs, but also improves time-to-revenue.
The new vRealize Operations Management Pack for vCloud Director 9.0, as well as the vRealize Operations Manager Tenant App for vCloud Director, do just that by giving Cloud Providers and their tenants even greater visibility and control, while enabling better capacity planning.
The vRealize Operations Management Pack for vCloud Director is an add-on management pack specifically designed for vCloud Director. It provides the ability to monitor the health of supported vCloud Director entities and sends early warning smart alerts for monitored Provider vCloud Director resources.
vRealize Operations Manager Tenant App for vCloud Director is a tenant-facing application that gives a tenant administrator visibility into their vCloud Director environment. The app is only available to service providers, who enable monitoring, troubleshooting and capacity planning access for any tenant.
By extending vRealize Operations Manager to include vCloud Director, and enabling Cloud Providers to provide tenants with access to the app, vRealize Operations can help reduce costs and improve time to revenue while empowering customers.
The release of vRealize Operations 6.6 delivers an intelligent operations solution designed to help customers plan, manage and scale their software defined data centers (SDDC) and multi-cloud environments. A redesigned, user-friendly experience, as well as greater/deeper integration across software defined data center (SDDC) technologies and multiple clouds, makes the latest release truly game-changing.
In addition to vCloud Director/vRealize Operations integration and the ability to deliver vRealize Operations as a Service for vCloud Director tenants, what other new innovations can Cloud Providers expect with vRealize Operations 6.6?
- The unification of all management functions – performance management, capacity, log analytics, cost analytics, planning, topology analysis, troubleshooting and automated workload balancing – in one integrated, highly intuitive, scalable and extensible platform.
- A redesigned, simplified HTML5 user interface that is easier to use and speeds navigation with dashboards and shortcuts to the right information needed to get started quickly and accelerate remediation.
- Out of the box integrations for faster time to value, including storage (vSAN), Logs (vRealize Log Insight), Business (vRealize Business for Cloud) and Automation (vRealize Automation).
- Capacity planning with cost analysis capabilities to optimize resource utilization and performance and ensure that sure VMs have enough resources for workloads.
