Our apologies for posting these news so late. Since the website and forums went down, we’ve been hit by two new server issues. Two of our repository servers lost their hard drives. That’s a total of 3 servers going down in just a few weeks. This time around we had full backups though and we were able to minimize downtime (no downtime at all on the Mint and LMDE2 repositories, a few hours yesterday on the LMDE 1 repositories). We’re eager to resume work on Linux Mint but at the moment most of our focus is still on server administration, on recovery, on configuration but also on making sure we’re stronger and issues like these have less of an impact on us going forward.
Here is the situation at the moment:
- The Cinnamon and MATE editions of Linux Mint 17.3 were released and upgrade paths were opened for them.
- The OEM and nocodecs ISOs were successfully tested and will be announced in the coming days.
- LMDE 2 “Betsy” started to catch up and received updates for some of the Mint tools as well as MATE and Cinnamon yesterday. This was interrupted by a server issue and we’re hoping to resume work on this tomorrow. Betsy should then receive more updates, including the new MDM, mintdesktop, and overdue updates on Flash and Thunderbird.
- The Xfce and KDE editions of Linux Mint 17.3 were initially planned for the end of December. We might still see their BETA this month, but their stable releases are very likely to happen in January next year.
